Act 48
This new requirement that week-long courses carry over into another week has my head spinning! I'm finishing projects for two seminars while doing work for one that's coming up next week! I wonder if there's a way to tie them all together. I wonder if this will change how I take courses next summer. Probably not.

A Tree in the Woods
If a tree falls in the middle of the woods and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound? That's how I'm beginning to feel about this blog. So given that my audience seems to be myself, I guess I have to use the blog as a sort of introspective tool. Use it for spontaneous thought and wild speculation. I almost bought a globe at Wal-mart today. $14.97 was too much money.

Good News and Bad News
Bad news first: Ingmar Bergman's dead. Good news: The Phillies won. I'm not sure why these things matter to me, let alone why they would matter to an English teacher. I voted for Woody Allen again on my website. I wish he would make another film. If you're reading this and have any good ideas for an explanation of why these things matter, be sure to post.
A Week of Computers
Well, Now that the week of "Internet for Educators" is over, I'm able to reflect on what I will be taking from the class long-term. One of the most important things I learned from this class is the necessity of an aesthetically pleasing website. Before I came into this class, I was worried about function over style, but now I see that an attractive and easy-to-use style helps facilitate function. In other words, if the website looks nice, people will be more likely to use it. On the last day of class when we were presenting our websites, it was suggested that I state explicitly where I implemented what I learned. Clicking on the link in this post will take you to my school website. One of the things about this that is new is the colored horizontal bar that indicates where one poem begins and another ends. I think that this is a direct manifestation of a concept learned in EDW647.

School Website
Today I continued working on my school website. I tried to apply what we learned about design; that is, I tried to make my website a bit more attractive. Before I came into this class I was more worried that the information was there. Now I'm conscious of both what my site offers and what it looks like.

Creating My Website
Today I hope to create a website that works independently of my schoolwires website. I plan to organize my website so that it is easier to navigate. The problem with it now is that I have pages for each class, but I have a lot of shared elements across classes. I'm playing with the idea of organizing pages according to author, concept, etc. instead of by class. Whatup.
